(And yeah, I attempted to do all of this online w/o calling anyone but I always reached a point where it would said it couldn't be processed and I had to call in.Multi Level Marketing (MLM) schemes are a drain on our society. My brother did not have as many issues because his accounts were all active although he said it still took a few hours to get things transferred. Not having local offices or people who can figure out things seem to be a big issue with them. It was a painful process.įinally after submitting the paperwork I still had to call in but got someone who seemed more useful than the others and it looked like Vanguard did not process my security removal form properly.Īnd yeah, I will shortly move all of it out of Vanguard and look forward never to deal with them again. I mailed it in and even got email and postal mail confirmations that it was received and the security was removed from my accounts BUT every single time I called in, they asked for it and I tried to explain it should be off. I had to fill out a form and get it notarized which I did. Well, if you don't use an account for years and also are someone who tries to do everything online you end up forgetting it. Apparently having had accounts before seemed to cause their system difficulties and eventually everything had to be started with by filling out tons of forms to open multiple accounts, inherited account forms, etc.Īlso at some point in the past they said I had set up an enhanced password that had to be used when I called in. And I briefly had money with them but transferred that out about 2 years ago. I had an employer account nearly 20 years ago but moved all that out at least 15 years ago. My father had money with Vanguard and I wasted hours on the phone, both on hold and speaking with close to 10 different people dealing with a variety of issues. Vanguard has some issues and for whatever reason if you are unlucky dealing with them is painful. Is there something up with the Vanguard website? I'm at my wits end here and was wondering if others have experienced similar problems opening new accounts. I'm IT inclined, have tried clearing cache, new browser, different computer. But as soon as I try logging in as this new user I am getting hit with all sorts of erratic behavior. I see our accounts, can make changes, updates, etc. If I, or my wife, log into our Vanguard accounts, there's no indication of any issues whatsoever. I tried to call the 800-number for help and was told it was over a 2-hour wait. I've sent support messages through the secure portal on day 1 and never heard back. The portal is either non-responsive or errors out trying to do the simplest things. I'm on day 3 of trying to get her account opened and I keep hitting issue after issue. I went to open a Vanguard account for her, with her blessing. That said, I finally got the "leave Primerica" plane off the ground, after excessive account closure and redemption fees, checks are in the mail ready to be rolled over. Their outsourced support required 5 attempts just to get someone reasonably understandable that had any ability to help. She is a "nervous investor" and agreed to let me drive the migration.Īs an aside, the process of getting access to, and closing out, Primerica accounts was like pulling teeth. Recently I've been trying to help a family member, with assets at Primerica, move her meager assets to Vanguard. The majority of my and DW's retirement savings are with them. I've been using (and recommending) Vanguard for ages.
